Membership
The CRA is an active and influential forum that engages with parliament, industry figures and regulators to ensure that creators are at the heart of policy decisions and legislation that affect our world-leading creative industries. It also provides information and engagement, keeping you informed and giving you a voice on the matters that affect your members
We meet with MPs and are a member of the Creative Industries Council (CIC), an invitation only forum of government, creative businesses, and other creative organisations co-chaired by both Secretaries of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport and Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.
Being able to access our members’ collective expertise enables us to analyse polices, share information as well as provide a single and focused voice on behalf of creators to numerous consultations, calls for evidence and industry discussions. For example, our cross-member pre-briefings have enabled us to present shared positions acknowledged by Creative UK in their work on creative freelancers, and the CIC on the need for creators to be represented on such an influential policy group.
We are here for our members, we believe passionately that creators should recognised for the amazing contribution they make to our world-leading creative industries. They should have the right to fair renumeration, better contract terms, retain copyright ownership of their work and enjoy the same protections and support as other creative businesses and workers.
Our campaigns include:
#PayTheCreator, highlighting the disparity between creators and other sector workers in the areas of pay, business support and policy making. Calling for creators to be paid professionally and promptly and to be given the same considerations enjoyed by other sectors of industry. Ream more here: #PayTheCreator.
Fair Contract Terms for Creators: CREATOR, a proposed bill supported by Lord Clement-Jones, containing provisions to strengthen the rights and contract terms of creators, read more here: CREATOR campaign.
A.I. and Creative Work: Having successfully lobbied the IPO to halt the introduction of a Text and Data Mining exception we continue to give a voice to creators’ concerns to policy makers and developers to ensure that their work and rights are protected and that any implementation of A.I. acknowledges the huge contribution our creators make to our creative and financial economy. A.I. and Creative Work campaign.
